CR, WR suspend QR code ticket booking for Mumbai local trains to prevent frauds

Mumbai: In a major step to curb ticketing frauds, both Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) have suspended QR code booking through their UTSonmobile app after widespread misuse by passengers. From now on, paperless mobile tickets can be booked only outside the geo-fencing limit of 20 metres from railway tracks and stations.

WR’s chief public relations officer Vineet Abhishek said, “We have discontinued the booking through QR code.”
