Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday announced a series of decisions aimed at improving worker welfare and modernising Coal India Ltd (CIL), the country’s largest coal producer.
At a press briefing, Reddy said the miner had decided to enhance workers’ compensation in the event of a mine accident to ₹25 lakh from the existing ₹15 lakh. The revised ex gratia will take effect from September 17, coinciding with Vishwakarma Diwas and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
