To keep a check on the quality of work, the BMC on Thursday announced stringent guidelines for its Rs 6,000-crore project to concretise 397 km of Mumbai roads.
The BMC had issued a work order for the project in January to five contractors. In a circular (accessed by The Indian Express) issued on Thursday, the BMC administration said the contractors will not be allowed to appoint sub-contractors or smaller agencies for the works.
Further, the circular stated that payment for men and material shall be directly made by the winning bidder (contractor who was awarded the work) from its company’s accounts.
