Chhattisgarh train accident: Death toll rises to 11, train services resume near Bilaspur

The death toll in the Bilaspur train accident has risen to 11, news agency ANI reported, citing the South East Central Railway. Several others were injured, raising concerns that the toll may increase further.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when a MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train travelling from Gevra in Korba district to Bilaspur rammed into a goods train from behind between Gatora and Bilaspur stations on the Howrah–Mumbai route. The impact was so strong that one of the passenger coaches mounted a wagon of the goods train, officials said, adding that two to three people are still feared trapped in the wreckage.
