Cabinet okays doubling of Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya railway line in Bihar @ Rs 2,192 cr

The Union Cabinet has approved the doubling of the 104-km Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya railway line in Bihar at a cost of about Rs 2,192 crore, a move expected to expand connectivity, boost freight capacity and improve access to historic destinations in the state.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the project on September 24. It will span four districts and add around 104 km to the Indian Railways network. Assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled later this year.
