Bird-hit plane returns to city
Chennai: An AirAsia plane flying from Chennai to Kuala Lumpur made an emergency landing shortly after take-off at 11.50pm on Friday, as a bird strike damaged one of its engines. After repairs, the plane departed to Kuala Lumpur on Saturday around 4.30pm.
According to airport sources, the bird hit the front portion of the aircraft and entered the engine as it began to ascend. The alert pilot immediately reported the incident to air traffic control and safely brought the plane back to Chennai airport, averting a major mishap.
