Auto industry asks refiners for BSVI fuel 45 days ahead of the deadline
Mumbai: The automotive industry along with its representing body, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam), has requested the state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs)– Indian Oil Corp Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd—to provide BSVI grade fuel (petrol and diesel) at least 30-45 days ahead of the scheduled deadline – 1 April 2020.
While the request from the auto industry to the OMCs is made to ensure a smooth transition to the stringent emission norms, the latter remains committed to the supply of BSVI grade fuel only from 1 April next year, three people aware of the development told Mint.
“Auto companies have asked us for BS VI fuel 30-45 days in advance and we have agreed to give it to them,” said an official from an oil marketing company.
