Anti-drag safety feature in metro doors soon: CMRL
Chennai: Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will soon introduce an advanced anti-drag safety feature that can detect thin objects such as sarees, bag straps, or belts caught in the doors of trains and automatically apply brakes to prevent accidents. The contract for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of anti-drag passenger door system for all 52 trains operating under Phase I was signed on Monday with Faiveley Transport Rail Technologies India Pvt Ltd at a cost of 48.33 crore, CMRL announced.
Now, metro trains are equipped with automatic sliding doors that feature an obstacle detection system capable of identifying larger objects obstructing the doors during closure at stations. If an object is detected, the doors automatically reopen to prevent entrapment before the train departs.
