All eyes on tariffs as bill for opening up nuclear power to be tabled this Parliament session
New Delhi: As India prepares to open the nuclear power sector to private companies and state governments, the issue of tariff determination is up for debate and may emerge as a major policy decision that the industry will watch out for, as aspects such as fuel source are likely to become a key factor in regulating the rates.
The Atomic Energy Bill 2025 is slated to be tabled in the winter session of the Parliament starting December 1. The amended Bill may also ease and clarify clauses for liability of an operator and the supplier making it easier for overseas technology providers to participate in India’s nuclear energy sector.
