AirAsia calls out Airbus software oversight as planemaker races to hit delivery targets

AirAsia Aviation Group founder Tony Fernandes has called for a fresh look at Airbus SE’s aircraft software testing protocols after a weekend glitch forced an urgent software rollback across global fleets.

Fernandes, whose airline group is among Airbus’s largest customers for single-aisle jets, said the episode suggests gaps in how the update was vetted. “It seems a bit bizarre, it is something it has to look at, it’s obvious it wasn’t tested,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg on Tuesday.

“I’m not an expert but it failed at that height. They have to make sure they get the experts or checks.”
