Air India’s long-forgotten Boeing 737-200 begins 1,900km journey after 13 years—on a trailer, not a runway. Here’s why

A Boeing 737-200 that had been sitting unnoticed at Kolkata airport for more than 13 years has finally been moved. However, this Air India-owned aircraft has a peculiar tale.

On November 14, the aircraft, registration VT-EHH, was removed from the airport’s south-eastern corner and loaded onto a tractor trailer to begin a 1,900-kilometre road journey to Bengaluru. It will now be used as a training platform for maintenance engineers at the MRO facility operated by Bangalore International Airport Ltd.
