Air India said to have deployed 20 extra flights from Dec 5; CEO urges staff to ‘share some kindness’ as IndiGo crisis strains sector
Air India has added 20 extra flights from 5 December to support passengers left stranded by the recent wave of flight disruptions across the aviation sector, sources told ET Online on Monday.
The deployment comes amid severe operational turbulence at IndiGo, which has cancelled thousands of flights following regulatory changes linked to new Flight Duty Time Limit norms and winter weather disruptions. The capacity crunch has led to overcrowded airports, elevated fares and long wait times for rebooking across airlines.
