NEW DELHI: Amid a massive hiring spree for new talent, Air India on Friday announced a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) — this time for its nonflying staff. This is the second VRS since Tatas took over the 11,000-employee-strong AI last January. While about 2,100 employees will be eligible to go for the latest offer, last June’s VRS for both flying and non-flying saw 1,500 of the 4,200 eligible opt for the scheme.
VRS will be available for permanent general cadre officers aged 40 years and above and who have completed at least five years of continuous service in AI. This includes clerical and unskilled categories of employees. It will be open till April 30.
