AI Delhi-London flight delay fallout: Do not offer unserviceable seats for sale to flyers, DGCA warns airlines
NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday barred Indian carriers from selling unserviceable seats to passengers and has warned of strict action if they continue doing so.
The regulatory move, along with a probe into over-booking by airlines, came hours after Delhi Airport witnessed protests from passengers of an Air India flight to London (AI 161).
In the last few years, government-owned AI did not have funds to upgrade cabin of its now ageing fleet due to which onboard flyer comfort has taken a back seat on the Maharaja.
