60-day ultimatum to 10 structures in DGCA’s fresh demolition notice
Kolkata: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued fresh demolition notices to 10 structures, including a multi-tower housing complex near Kolkata airport, last month.
The owners have been directed to remove portions that exceed aviation height norms within 60 days or face demolition under the Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions) Rules. Over the past four years, multiple notices have been served to the owners of these buildings by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Airport director Vikram Singh said the AAI had forwarded the fresh notice to the civic authorities and police. In Nov, the five-tower Loharuka Green complex at Bablatala, located close to the airport boundary, received its eight notice, officials said. The notice has warned that top two floors of two towers, including lift rooms and water tanks, intrude into the take-off funnel, officials added.
