5 MW solar power generation starts along Samruddhi highway in Maharashtra; Plan for 204 MW capacity in future
Mumbai: The state has introduced a novel plan to implement solar energy projects with a 204 MW capacity at the interchanges of Samruddhi Mahamarg. Close to 5 MW of solar energy generation commenced on Monday, a senior official said. Through solar energy generation, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) now has a new source of income apart from toll revenue, the official added.
Sources in the corporation said that the solar energy generated will also be used for powering lights in the tunnels on the missing link on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, as well as in a few tunnels along the Samruddhi highway.
