21% of Metro stations in Bengaluru don’t have parking bays

For every 10,000 who travel by Metro, there are just 150 parking slots — 127 for two-wheelers and the rest for cars — making it nearly impossible for motorists to find parking space every single day. Instead of circling around the station for a chimera called parking zone, many motorists prefer to continue on bikes or in cars, instead of taking a ride on Metro stations, to reach their offices.

The reason for this traffic malaise is not too far to seek. Those tracking Metro developments maintain that providing parking infrastructure had not been a priority from the time the project was conceptualised for Bengaluru.
