100 e-buses to join Delhi Transport Corporation fleet in 2 weeks

NEW DELHI: With Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) planning to add 1,500 electric buses in its fleet this year, the first 100 buses will come in the next two weeks. “Another 250 buses will be added next month. Thereafter, around 100 buses will come every month, adding 1,500 buses by the year-end,” said transport commissioner Ashish Kundra. Currently, 300 electric buses are running in Delhi.

The regulatory clearance has been secured, said Kundra, who recently visited the Lucknow plant where the prototypes were being tested. The low-floor airconditioned buses are being manufactured at Tata Motors’ plant in Belur Industrial Area.

In the last week of December, an agreement was signed between DTC and Tata Motors, under which its subsidiary company, CV Mobility Solutions Limited, will also run and maintain the e-buses for 12 years.
