Spread on 558 acres of land, the operation of Adani Power Jharkhand Limited\u2019s (APJL) ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Godda district is set to augur additional electricity to the power-starved state in the coming months.<\/p>\n
In July last year, the 2x800MW power plant officially commenced commercial operation following mandatory reliability tests during the preceding months. The commencement has now ensured uninterrupted promised supply to Bangladesh through dedicated transmission grids spanned around 100km area from Godda via other parts of the Santhal Pargana pockets to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
Besides its international commitment to supply power, the power major is now also gearing up to feed the state\u2019s requirements soon. Station head of the Adani\u2019s power plant in Godda, Ramesh Jha, said, \u201cWhile inking the deal with the state government, we had promised 25% of power to Jharkhand. In actual terms, it will be about 400MW of power.<\/p>\n
We have communicated with the state government in this regard and are awaiting a response.\u201d \u201cSince this plant isn\u2019t connected with the domestic (Indian) grid, we will be providing our commitment of electricity supply (400MW) from our Raipur plant (grid), which we have already communicated to the state government.<\/p>\n
The state through its power tariff regulatory board has to decide on the pricing mechanism post which formal transfer can begin. We are currently awaiting the go-ahead from the state government,\u201d he added. Prasun Chakraborty, the operations and maintenance head (ONM) of the Godda plant, added that besides Jharkhand, the project is of national importance, too, as it marks a new beginning towards energy security between the two nations.<\/p>\n
\u201cPower supply from Godda plant to Bangladesh\u2019s grid is aimed at enhancing the energy security in Bangladesh,\u201d he said. In 2017, APJL signed a pact with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to supply 1,496 MW net capacity power from Godda for 25 years via a 400kV dedicated transmission line connected to the Bangladesh grid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
