AmpIn Energy Transition, a prominent renewable energy platform in India, has secured a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 6 MWp solar project with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL) for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project. This move is set to replace about 36% of Nagpur Metro’s grid power usage with solar energy, resulting in a substantial 41% saving per unit.<\/p>\n
The project, which is AmpIn Energy’s first in Maharashtra’s metro sector, follows its successful ventures with L&T Metro and Kochi Metro. Divided into two packages – 2.5 MWp and 3.5 MWp – the solar installation will be distributed across 19 sites including metro station rooftops and administrative buildings.<\/p>\n
“We are excited to partner with MMRCL in bringing sustainable energy solutions to Nagpur Metro,” said Pinaki Bhattacharyya, MD and CEO, AmpIn Energy Transition. The project is expected to significantly contribute to Maharashtra’s renewable energy goals in mass public transportation.<\/p>\n
With an environmental impact that entails offsetting approximately 7,000MT of CO2 annually, the project exemplifies AmpIn’s commitment to a cleaner and greener environment.<\/p>\n
MMRCL, a collaboration between the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India, was established in 2015 to implement metro projects across Maharashtra, outside the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.<\/p>\n
