Closer home, South Western Railway, which manages 84% of Karnataka&#8217;s network and parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Maharashtra, completed electrifying 72% of its tracks in the same financial year.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023-24, 382km of rail has been commissioned for electrification.<\/p>\n<p>This electrification process, both nationally and regionally, has been done for broad-gauge (BG) rail. According to the railways&#8217; 2021 figures, about 80% of its network in the country is BG.
