CHENNAI: Tangedco has made more than one crore of its consumers successfully link electricity service connections with Aadhaar and until Wednesday, the state-owned discom has covered 37.6% of the connections that are under the subsidy bracket.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday alone, more than 2.7 lakh consumers linked their Aadhaar numbers with respective service connections – 1.74 lakh consumers at the special counters of the section offices and 98,000 consumers through the web portal. In total, 1,00,57,400 consumers have linked their Aadhaar, of which 50% did at the counters, while the other 50% linked it online.<\/p>\n
It maybe noted that there are about 2.37 crore domestic, powerloom, handloom connections and 30 agri connections in the state, that get subsidised power supply.
