Mumbai: The city might soon have a power back-up for its transmission grid in the event of disruption resulting in outages. Tata Power has proposed a battery storage facility of upto 500MW for Mumbai to cater to essential services such as railways, refineries, big hospitals, during a major outage such as the one faced in October 2020, company\u2019s president (T&D) Sanjay Banga said on Thursday.
\nSources said Adani Electricity has also proposed a similar battery storage system for upto 500MW for the city.
