Now, unpaid lessors have started approaching the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to de-register aircraft leased (rented) to the airline. Dubai-based leasing firm Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has requested the regulator to de-register three Boeing 737s as the airline has reportedly not been able to pay lease rentals. Incidentally these three B737s \u2014 VT-SYW, VT-SYX and VT-SYY \u2014 were in the fleet of erstwhile Jet Airways and were leased out to SpiceJet when the former folded up in 2019.<br \/>\nThe request has been made under the provisions of Irrevocable De-registration and Export Request Authorisations (IDERA) that is a part of the Cape Town Convention and provides for the owner of an aircraft to get an aircraft de-registered from the name of a third party in cases like default of lease rentals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW DELHI: Financially-strapped SpiceJet troubles are mounting by the day.
