These are now in use at Chingrighata Crossing, Ultadanga HUDCO Crossing and Burrabazar. Last year, 77 pedestrians had died in Kolkata streets. The death of a young Bangladeshi national recently was widely reported. <\/p>\n<p>Police said 38% of all fatal road accident victims in the past two years were killed while trying to cross the road or while walking dangerously. <\/p>\n<p>However, in a departure from the past, this time it has been decided that there would not be any automatic drop-gates.
