NEW DELHI: The alarming issue of electric vehicles (EVs) catching fire has spilled over from two-wheelers into the car industry. A Tata Motors Nexon caught fire in Mumbai, leading to an investigation by the government as well the automaker. Nexon is the country’s largest-selling EV.
\nThe Nexon’s owner had a miraculous escape as he moved out of the vehicle after hearing “some weird sounds” and “flashes of warnings on the dashboard”, 5km into a trip. The car, which had reportedly been charged at the owner’s office, caught fire, following which firefighters were called and the incident went viral over social media.
