NEW DELHI: Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, India has been under pressure from western nations to curtail its trading relations with Russia. One of the key issues in focus has been India’s energy purchases from Russia.
\nRecently, when asked at a press conference in the US about India’s oil purchase from Russia, external affairs minister S Jaishankar had said: \u201cIf you are looking at energy purchases from Russia, I would suggest that your attention should be focused on Europe.
\n\u201cWe do buy some energy, which is necessary for our energy security. But I suspect looking at the figures, probably our total purchases for the month would be less than what Europe does in an afternoon,\u201d Jaishankar said.
