Chennai: As part of its effort to build an EV hub to complement the internal combustion engine (ICE) auto hub in Tamil Nadu, the state government is in the process of developing specific connected and integrated locations for both the domestic and export markets.
\nSpeaking at a CII panel discussion on electric mobility, Ambrin Moinuddin, VP economic analysis & policy, Guidance Tamil Nadu said that the government is looking at building \u201calternative competitive locations for EV ecosystem which essentially translates to the fact that destinations like Krishnagiri (Hosur), Manallur (Chennai), Coimbatore will transform into integrated manufacturing and technology hubs linked with export gateways.\u201d
\nTamil Nadu accounts for 10.3% of electric vehicles sold in India right now up from 6.4% in 2019. \u201cIn 2021, nearly 3% of the vehicles registered in TN were EVs and by 2030 this number is projected to go over 30% of the fleet in the state,\u201d said Moinuddin.
