{"id":433747,"date":"2021-09-02T15:27:55","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T09:57:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infralive.com\/web\/?p=433747"},"modified":"2021-09-02T15:27:55","modified_gmt":"2021-09-02T09:57:55","slug":"guvnl-to-procure-3000-mw-thermal-power-on-long-term-basis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infralive.com\/web\/guvnl-to-procure-3000-mw-thermal-power-on-long-term-basis\/","title":{"rendered":"GUVNL to procure 3,000 MW thermal power on long-term basis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State-run Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) plans to procure 3,000MW electricity from thermal power plants on long-term basis through competitive bidding process.<\/p>\n<p>The apex power utility has also floated draft bid documents for the procurement of power and has sought views and comments from the interested stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>According to GUVNL, the power will be procured from the thermal power plants \u2014 existing and new \u2014 set up on design, build, finance, own and operate (DBFOO) basis. For power generation, these plants use coal allocated under the Union government\u2019s Shakti (Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India) policy.<\/p>\n<p>GUVNL intends to invite bids after obtaining Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission\u2019s (GERC) approval to the draft bid document. \u201cGujarat will start getting coal under Shakti scheme by 2023. Hence, the commencement of power supply would tentatively begin from September 2023,\u201d said sources.<\/p>\n<p>The contract period for the power supply will be 15 years and the date of registration and process for submission of bids will be intimated by GUVNL separately once the state-run company secures GERC\u2019s approval to the bid documents, GUVNL said in a notice.<\/p>\n<p>GUVNL plans to invite bids for procurement of electricity from the thermal power plants after almost a decade.
