An economy-class ticket for a flight from Delhi to London has been available for between \u20b91.03 lakh and \u20b91.47 lakh during August, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
“There are media reports claiming India-UK one-way economy class fares have touched \u20b94 lakh. These reports have no proven basis. The veracity of Shri Sanjeev Gupta’s claim has been thoroughly checked by DGCA,” the ministry said on Twitter.<\/p>\n
“The fares offered on the Delhi-London sector (Economy class) range from \u20b91.03-1.21 lakhs for Indian carriers and \u20b91.28-1.47 lakhs for UK carriers for travel during August 2021,” it added.<\/p>\n
This clarification came after a complaint was made by the Secretary of the Inter-State Council Secretariat in the Union Home Ministry, Sanjeev Gupta. He put out a tweet saying that an economy-class ticket on British Airways’s Delhi-London flight for August 26 was priced at \u20b93.95 lakh.<\/p>\n
He said that an economy-class ticket on a Delhi-London flight of Vistara and Air India for the same date was also priced between \u20b91.2 lakh and \u20b92.3 lakh amid college admission time in the UK.<\/p>\n
The Secretary added that he has “alerted” P S Kharola, Union Civil Aviation Secretary regarding this.<\/p>\n
