{"id":414690,"date":"2021-05-13T08:45:43","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T03:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infralive.com\/web\/?p=414690"},"modified":"2021-05-13T09:20:58","modified_gmt":"2021-05-13T03:50:58","slug":"cabinet-approves-rs-18000-cr-pli-scheme-for-battery-manufacturing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infralive.com\/web\/cabinet-approves-rs-18000-cr-pli-scheme-for-battery-manufacturing\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabinet approves Rs 18,000-cr PLI scheme for battery manufacturing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved an Rs 18,100-crore plan to incentivise battery makers to manufacture locally as it looks to cut import dependence while giving a boost to electric vehicle (EV) adoption. <\/p>\n<p>This was a Department of Heavy Industries\u2019 proposal, which the government expects will create direct investment of Rs 45,000 crore. <\/p>\n<p>Under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme floated by the central government, the Cabinet in November 2020 had approved Rs 18,000 crore for domestic manufacturing of Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery storage. <\/p>\n<p>Currently, the country\u2019s ACC demand is being met through imports. <\/p>\n<p>The nodal ministry, thereafter, proposed a national programme on ACC battery storage to achieve manufacturing capacity of 50 GigaWatt-Hour (GWh) of ACC and 5 GWh of \u201cNiche\u201d ACC.
