The director (marketing) of BPCL, Arun Kumar Singh, said that LPG import at Haldia is growing over 14% now making it one of the fastest-growing ports going by LPG import.<br \/>\nIt is one of the leading LPG importing ports in the country already with close competition from Kandla and Mangalore, but the BPCL terminal would take Haldia much ahead of others.<br \/>\nCurrently, there are two LPG import terminals in Haldia of IOC Petronas and Hindustan Aegis. The total import of LPG through Haldia is now 3 million tonne (MT). BPCL has constructed this LPG import terminal with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore and a capacity of over one million tonne. The terminal will meet the requirement of LPG in West Bengal and other states in eastern and north-eastern India. Prime Minister Narendta Modi will inaugurate the terminal on Sunday here. The project was approved in 2015.<br \/>\nWest Bengal, along with other eastern states, has witnessed a major growth in LPG consumption. LPG penetration in West Bengal, which was only 41.4% in April 2014, has increased to 99.5% as on date.
