NEW DELHI: New Delhi: A GoAir charter flight headed from Riyadh to Delhi diverted to Karachi on Tuesday night due to a medical emergency on board. A passenger suffered a cardiac arrest on board and was administered medical aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but given his condition the pilots decided to land at the nearest airport which happened to be Karachi.
\n\u201cUnfortunately on medical examination after landing, the passenger was declared dead. All possible medical assistance was given onboard the aircraft to the passenger,\u201d said an airline official.
\nThe aircraft, an Airbus A320 (VT-WGT), had flown from Delhi to Riyadh as a ferry flight \u2014 meaning without passengers as Saudi currently does not allow passengers from India \u2014 on Tuesday to fly back Indians from there home. It was operating as G8 6658 and was in Pakistan airspace on its way back to Delhi with passengers when a person on board fainted.
