{"id":368126,"date":"2020-08-17T12:00:38","date_gmt":"2020-08-17T06:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infralive.com\/web\/?p=368126"},"modified":"2020-08-17T12:00:38","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T06:30:38","slug":"hc-lists-pil-on-unlimited-use-of-electricity-by-upcl-staff-for-hearing-on-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infralive.com\/web\/hc-lists-pil-on-unlimited-use-of-electricity-by-upcl-staff-for-hearing-on-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"HC lists PIL on \u2018unlimited use of electricity by UPCL staff\u2019 for hearing on Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nainital: The Uttarakhand high court (HC) on Wednesday listed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting the \u201cunlimited use of electricity virtually free of cost\u201d by the employees of the agencies tasked with production, management, and distribution of the electricity for further hearing on Friday.<br \/>\nThe bench of acting Chief Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice NS Dhanik listed the case on Friday after the petitioners said that Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) is not complying with the HC directions to install meters in all the residential units of their employees as well as to cap the usage of electricity by its officials.<br \/>\nSenior advocate BP Nautiyal, the counsel appearing for the petitioner, told TOI that the court gave UPCL a few more days after its counsel asked for more time. \u201cThe UPCL has been telling the court for months that it is in the process of installing meters. However, still there are several homes where the meters do not work. The UPCL has been saying that it will file a detailed affidavit but has not done so as yet. Therefore, the court gave them two more days,\u201d Nautiyal said. As reported by TOI earlier, the electricity bills of several high-ranking officials of UPCL ran into lakhs.
