KOCHI: Mandatory safety audits are not being conducted by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Kozhikode airport, a petition filed before the Kerala high court in 2016 had alleged. The case is still pending.
\nThe petition (WP-C No. 21085\/2016) was filed by advocate Yeshwanth Shenoy, who has been conducting litigations across the country questioning violation of air safety norms.
\nConsidering the petition, the court had on November 23, 2016, directed DGCA and AAI to produce annual safety audit reports of the airports at Kozhikode, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram from 2011 to 2016, a counter-affidavit filed by the petitioner said.
\nThe petitioner has alleged that instead of complying with the court\u2019s directive, DGCA and AAI produced action taken reports. With regard to Kozhikode airport, the audit report was provided by DGCA for 2015 alone. For Kochi airport, the audit report was given by AAI for 2013 only.
