NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP on Monday held protests across the city against \u201cexorbitant\u201d electricity bills alleging that the AAP government was in \u201ccollusion\u201d with power distribution companies.
\nLaunching \u2018Bijli Jan Andolan\u2019 in all the 70 assembly constituencies, BJP said the discoms had also started sending disconnection notices to the consumers without giving any consideration to corona-induced lockdown and the hardships faced by them. The BJP members demanded the fixed charges and exorbitant power bills be withdrawn, and warned discoms that no disconnection would be allowed.
\nDelhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta also met DERC officials with other party members and submitted a memorandum with all the demands.
\nAAP, however, said that BJP was indulging in \u201cpetty politics\u201d at a time when everybody was busy fighting the pandemic.\u201cDelhi governm ent has singularly focused on ensuring adequate healthcare facilities are in place to fight corona, while BJP refuses to even pay the salaries to the doctors and nurses in the municipal hospitals.
