UK energy major BP plans to hire 2,000 staff for a global business services centre it plans to set up in Pune. <\/p>\n
The centre, slated to begin operations by January 2021, will provide business processing and advanced analytics capabilities in support of BP\u2019s businesses worldwide, according to a company statement. <\/p>\n
The new centre will begin to recruit digitally savvy and customer-focused candidates in the next few months, aiming to rapidly grow to a workforce of about 2,000 over time, it said. <\/p>\n
BP already employs about 7,500 people in India in the oil, gas, lubricants and petrochemicals businesses. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur new centre in India will enable us to put digital at the heart of BP\u2019s businesses,\u201d said Camille Drummond, senior vice president for BP\u2019s global business services. \u201cAccessing India\u2019s great talent pool and leveraging an agile mindset, we expect to advance the customer experience, adding further value to BP.\u201d <\/p>\n
BP\u2019s global business service extends supports in several areas including customer service, vendor payments and financial accounting and control. <\/p>\n
The Pune center will be owned and operated by BP.
