Last year, Delhi\u2019s peak power demand had clocked 7,409MW.<br \/>\nAfter the end of the lockdown 3.0 on May 17 and the subsequent ease in restrictions, Delhi\u2019s peak power has started increasing. \u201cSince the easing of restrictions, Delhi\u2019s peak power demand has increased by over 40%. However, if we compare the peak power demand of April 2020 with that of June 2020, the peak power demand has already increased by over 72%,\u201d said a power official.<br \/>\nWhile the peak power demand in April was 3,362MW, on June 15 it touched 5,805MW.<br \/>\nAccording to the official, with the city\u2019s peak power demand set to increase even further, it may surpass last year\u2019s demand of 7,409 MWin July and it may even touch 7,500MW.<br \/>\nAccording to BSES, arrangements have been firmed up by its two discoms to source adequate electricity to meet the power demand of over 44 lakhs consumers in the capital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi: The capital on Monday night recorded a peak power demand of 5,805MW, the seasons highest so far, overtaking the previous high of 5,591 MW recorded on June 12.
