Discoms that curtail the use of renewable energy will have to pay solar and wind power developers for the electricity deemed to have been generated, the ministry for new and renewable energy said in a notice. The only exception would be on account of issues arising due to grid safety, the ministry said. \u201cSome of the discoms are still resorting to RE curtailment without any valid reason,\u201d the ministry said in the notice on Saturday.<\/p>\n
However, not all renewable energy companies may benefit because most PPAs do not carry a \u201cdeemed generation\u201d clause, said Vinay Rustagi, MD of Bridge to India, a renewable energy consultancy firm. \u201cThis clause only exists in PPAs that have been signed in the last six months,\u201d Rustagi told ET. \u201cIf the developers want to enforce this notice, they might have to file a grievance in court.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
