NEW DELHI: Use of mobile phone \u201csolely for navigation\u201d while driving won\u2019t attract fine, the road transport ministry has proposed in an amendment to the Motor Vehicle (Driving) Regulations. The ministry has also proposed another change, giving option of carrying documents in \u201cphysical or electronic form\u201d instead of the original ones.
\nMobile phones will be allowed with a rider that device doesn\u2019t disturb the driver\u2019s concentration. Currently, the law prohibits use of \u201cany hand-held mobile phone or other communication device\u201d while driving. It also says that no trainer or supervisor shall use a mobile phone or other communication device while training or supervising a learner driver. Sources said the changes are being made considering that in most cases, drivers are using mobile phones for navigation.
