This index tracks the progress of Energy Efficiency (EE) initiatives in 36 states and union territories based on 97 significant indicators, an official statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The State Energy Efficiency Index categorises states as \u2018Front Runner\u2019, \u2018Achiever\u2019, \u2018Contender\u2019 and \u2018Aspirant\u2019 based on their efforts and achievements towards energy efficiency implementation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe top performing states in the State EE Index 2019 &#8211; Haryana, Kerala and Karnataka &#8211; are in the \u2018Achiever\u2019 category.
