NEW DELHI: An IndiGo Airbus A320 Neo made a safe emergency landing in Mumbai on Monday evening after making rapid descent following a rare problem with the pressurisation system, where air supply to air-conditioning packs and then into passenger cabin from both engines was hit. The Neo (VT-ITA) was operating as 6E-6449 from Bengaluru to Mumbai.
\nA senior pilot said engines provide pressurised air to “air-conditioning packs” and then this air is supplied to the cabin. “In this case, pressurisation from one engine was not available from the start as the aircraft was operating under minimum equipment list (where an aircraft can operate by carrying forward a snag but has to be rectify the same within a given time). During climb, the aircraft stopped getting pressurised air-conditioned air into the cabin from the other engine also because of which pressure inside the cabin dropped.
