It is the first-time in the country that thermal units with a capacity above 250MW and using lignite as fuel have been commissioned. Thursday&#8217;s addition takes thermal capacity of NLC India Ltd to 5,000MW.<br \/>\n&#8220;NLC India Limited has commissioned Unit 1 of New Neyveli Thermal Power Station (2 units of 500MW each) on Thursday. The formal clearance from southern regional load despatch centre is under process. Fuel for this plant-lignite will be sourced from mines at Neyveli.
