NEW DELHI: Delhi high court on Tuesday sought the response of the Centre and Delhi government on a plea seeking refund of challans issued for overspeeding on NH-9 between August and October 10, after the amended MV Act kicked in.
\nHigh court told the Union home ministry and Delhi government that people were erroneously issued challans despite them driving below the permissible 70 km per hour speed limit.
\nThe plea pointed out that challans were being issued by the police department due to the state\u2019s irregularity in putting up signboards that showed the speed limit was 70kmph, whereas the cameras picked up violations and challans were issued even if a vehicle went over the speed limit of 60 km per hour.
\nPetitioner Pawan Pathak said that on October 15, Delhi traffic police said they have decided to withdraw about 1.5 lakh challans issued mostly to those who were found overspeeding on NH-9 from August to October 10. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
