KOLKATA: A part of the turbine blade in the right engine of Air India\u2019s Airbus A319 aircraft had come off during the flight from Gaya to Yangon on Friday afternoon, leading to the engine\u2019s shutdown and the subsequent diversion of the flight to Kolkata.
\nThis is the 28th engine-related issue in the airline\u2019s Airbus fleet and has led to grounding of 14 aircraft, including the one that made the full emergency landing in Kolkata on Friday. The grounding of the plane had a domino effect on AI flights operated with A319 aircraft on Saturday and will continue till the engine is overhauled and repaired at the carrier\u2019s facility in Delhi.
