Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a public sector undertaking, has issued a tender for the design and supply of a complete floatation platform for 100 MW of grid-connected floating solar project at the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC)\u2019s site in Telangana\u2019s Ramagundam.<\/p>\n
The tender also mandates mooring, anchoring, installation, and commissioning of a floating platform on which the project will be constructed. Once commissioned, this is expected to be India\u2019s largest floating solar project.<\/p>\n
As per the pre-qualification criteria of the tender, the bidder should have manufactured and supplied to similar projects of a minimum capacity of 100 kW at a single location and the supplied floating system should have been successfully commissioned. The vendors should have executed purchase orders of a cumulative value of \u20b950 million (~$0.69 million) in the last three years.<\/p>\n
Bids for this tender need to be submitted by September 16, 2019.<\/p>\n
In June 2019, Mercom reported on the news of BHEL winning two EPC orders for setting up solar projects of a combined capacity of 200 MW. This included the 100 MW floating solar tender for which BHEL is now outsourcing the design and supply contracts.<\/p>\n
BHEL had also previously issued a tender for the supply of Balance of System (BoS) items needed for the installation of the 5 MW of floating solar projects in the state of West Bengal.<\/p>\n
Recently, the company also bagged an order for setting up a 25 MW floating solar photovoltaic (SPV) power project located in Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh. The order came from the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC) and is valued at \u20b91 billion (~$ 14.57 million).
