CHENNAI: Chennai airport is shutting passenger amenities such as left luggage room, smoking area and a few others as vigilance has raised objections to some of the contracts. This comes at a time when the airport is facing flak on social media for poor passenger amenities.
\nThe left luggage room, which is useful for passengers to deposit their bags and explore the city if there is a long layover, has been shut for a few days and notices have been pasted alerting passengers. An official said the contractor who was running it for years under extension withdrew. This has attracted the attention of vigilance wing which has found fault with the manner in which the facility was run. Similar is the situation with smoking room and a few ATM machines.
