KOLKATA: Flight operations resumed at Kolkata airport from Saturday morning after a 16-hour closure as part of precautionary measures taken to face cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ that finally spared the city and moved towards Bangladesh by Saturday morning.
\nWhile the airport opened for passengers at 8am, the officials performed some mandatory inspections before flight operations resumed.
\nAn Agartala-bound Air India flight, AI 743 was the first to depart from the city at 9.57am while a Delhi-bound Go Air flight was the first to land at Kolkata airport around 10.10am.
\n“Once we got the assurance from the Met department that the storm was moving away from the city and was not in a position to hamper flight movement by any means, we passed on the message to DGCA who allowed resumption of flight movement.
