BENGALURU: A leakage in a GAIL pipeline near Corporation Bank ATM in Singasandra, Hosur Main Road, sparked a blaze that raged for over an hour-and-a-half, causing panic in the area on Sunday evening.
\nAccording to residents, the leak was first noticed around 6.55pm and two fire tenders – one from Electronics City fire station and another from Sarjapur Road station – were rushed to the spot. While the area was cordoned off by police, 12 fire brigade officials attempted to douse the flames. The fire was put off around 8.30pm.
\n“I noticed the fire and the sound of gas leak was distinct. Initial attempts to douse the fire using hose pipes were unsuccessful,” said Mayank Parashar, a resident of SMD Beverly Hills apartment in Singasandra, who reported the incident to the fire department.
\nGAIL officials pointed out that a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) carried out some repair work in the area recently and debris burning near the pipeline could have caused the fire. It was a medium-density polyethylene pipe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
