The government today cleared a proposal for six laning of the Eastern peripheral expressway at a cost of Rs 7,558 crore, a move that will help check the growing traffic and pollution in Delhi.<\/p>\n
“Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given approval for development of six laning of Eastern peripheral expressway (National Highway No. NE-II) in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh,” an official statement said.<\/p>\n
The cost is estimated at Rs 7,558 crore, which includes Rs 1,795.20 crore for land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities.<\/p>\n
The total length of the road will be around 135 kms and this work will be under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis, it said.<\/p>\n
Main object of the project is to improve infrastructure in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, it added.<\/p>\n
“The road is a peripheral road around Delhi, so that the traffic that is not destined for Delhi, does not pass through this city. This avoids congestion and pollution,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
The development of the expressway will help in uplifting the socio-economic condition of the concerned regions of the States and would also increase employment potential for local labourers for project activities, it added.<\/p>\n
“Development of 6-lane Eastern Peripheral Expressway (National Highway No. NE-II) from Km 0 to Km 135 (starting from 36.083 Km on National Highway NH-1 and ending at 64.330 Km on National Highway NH-2) will be in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on EPC Mode of delivery,” it said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
